Industrial-academic alliance

In conjunction with Seoul National University's Department of Computer Science and Engineering, LG CNS provides the SNU Software Engineering course as a core component for their 3rd and 4th year Computer Science and Engineering students. Course participants learn about the software development cycle through empirical research that combines theory with practice and real issues that arise at actual IT project sites. Selection process of elite specialists (TE, TM, specialists)

Becoming an LG CNS Elite Specialist is a rigorous process. Earning this recognition requires passing a Technical Competency Test (TCT), achieving the required Level Competency Placement (LCP), passing in-depth written and core skills assessments. Apiring applicants are then vetted for approval by the Skills Review Board (SRB), and the Personnel Development Committee. The Tech Experts, Tech Meisters, and Specialists who succeed exemplify the highest standards of competence and technical leadership in our company. The few who successfully pass all testing and reviews, are given additional titles of Managing Consultant, Managing Tech Meister, and Specialist, and receive special rewards comensurate with their new positions. They are also new postitions in and given opportunity to choose their desired career paths including solution development and new business projects, regardless of their age or years of service.

Hiring people with disabilities

In October 2016, LG CNS established Haengbokmaru Co., Ltd., a business and place of employement for people with disabilities. As a subsidiary of LG CNS, Haengbokmaru Co., Ltd. improves company wide employee welfare, with with cafeteria services environmental beautification, and health therapy. LG CNS received the Minister of Employment and Labor's commendation at the 2018 Conference for Promoting Employment of the Disabled for the active recruitment of disabled persons and improvement of working environments in 2017. Haengbokmaru provides convenience facilities, private lounges, and group insurance for disabled workers, including comfortable working environments. It is also actively involved in exhibitions of disabled artists' works to expand the culture and arts of the disabled, and actively participates in social contribution activities with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled.

Improved Internal Reporting

At LG CNS, we value “practicality” in the way we work. In order to have meetings focusing on discussions and decision making, we share the meeting materials two days before the meeting and discuss the items for discussions and decision making presented on a one-page report that summarizes only the essentials. In addition, we are shifting toward the adoption of more practical internal reporting methods by continually improving the meeting system to minimize data creation and use data in a more timely manner.

External venture (Startup Monster)

Since 2018, we have been running the Startup Monster program to foster external ventures (focused on technology startups in the early stages). This program discovers startups as an open window for innovation, starting with people with new ideas, and providing the startups with opportunities to work with and grow with LG CNS. In 2018, a total of 363 external startups participated in the Startup Monster contest, and the final three startups were selected through a double pitch competition. The selected startups received funding and space support for six months, R&D mentoring, and opportunities to develop their POC and run pilot projects with the LG Group's major affiliates. Full support was provided to these startups to upgrade their products and services and to open new sales channels.

Future Planning Committee

The Future Planning Committee is an in-house junior board entrusted with creating and maintaing a great workplace for all LG CNS members as company and culture evolve. The main goals of the Future Planning Committee are to ensure effective communication between top management and employees and to propose methods and directions to advance company and employee growth.

Labor Relations Committee

LG CNS established the Labor-Management Committee in February 1998, and it is crrently presided by eight Labor representatives and eight management representatives. The Labor-Management Committee holds a general meeting each fiscal quarter to discuss company-related issues including individual employee grievances, employee work conditions, and management strategies to strenthen progressive and cooperative Labor-Management relations.

Location Manager System

LG CNS operates the Location Manager System that designates regional leaders in Paju, Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, Jeolla, Chungnam, Chungbuk, and Seoul Metropolitan Area to resolve workplace and project site issues around Korea. LG CNS works continuously to build caring, a sense of belonging, and loyalty among local employees by considerate engagement and handling of workplace grievances.

LG CNS makes every effort to guarantee and uphold all employee rights, and that they are satisfied at work, and that they have sound working environments. All empolyees have the right to be heard, and we engage to understand and resolve workplace issues in a reasonable and timely manner. LG CNS supports the health and wellbeing of all employees in multiple ways including, annual medical examinations, and insurance programs. LG CNS provides comprehensive medical examinations for all employees to protect, maintain, and improve their health (Yearly for ages 35 and older, every two years ages below 35). Comprehensive medical examinations are provided every two years for employees’ spouses. LG CNS also operates the Mind Therapy Center, which provides consultation for LG CNS employees and their family members, to support families and individuals and help them with work and family-related issues.

The LG CNS counseling center is available to all LG CNS employee who wish to meet with either of our two professionally trained psychologists on any matters related to their mental well being.
